NYC Restaurant Review: Aquagrill

The SoHo-based Aquagrill is one of Manhattan’s finest seafood restaurants, serving up a colorful, flavorful menu and dishing out a robust variety of exceptional wines.

The establishment distributes brunch, lunch and dinner, plating a wide range of items, including gluten-free items, unique desserts, fresh seafood, a scintillating collection of warm and chilled beverages. Whether ordering the Fresh Maine Sea Urchin, Dry Aged Sirloin Steak or Truffle Crusted Casco Bay Cod, you will leave feeling satisfied and well-fed. Additionally, the confident, well-seasoned sides thoughtfully complement the prominent entrees, particularly the soft truffle polenta, octopus salad, the yellow Finnish potato hash and the grilled asparagus.

When I visited Aquagrill, I ordered one of the restaurant’s most notable dishes. The Miso Glazed Chilean Sea Bass was served with Korean Kimchi and string beans steeped in a generous wasabi-miso sauce, which made for a breathtaking meal. The aroma of the dish greeted me before it became visible. Once set before me on the table, I could see that the miso-glazed Chilean sea bass was perfectly cooked.

Everything on the plate was truly captivating and mouth-watering. The choice of sauces and spices truly ignited the dish, and everything including the silky and buttery fish texture, the nutty and truffle-flavored sauce, and the white pickled kimchee were incredible.

The made-to-order fish melted in my mouth and left me wanting more. Without praising the dish too much, I’d bargain that the that the triumphantly delicious sea bass is the most excellent dish at Aquagrill. The fresh, sweet and appealing dish was also paired nicely with the fresh oyster and clam raw bar selection, which was beyond exception. The oysters were served over a bed of ice and oyster chefs shucked the fine fleet of oysters, dripping with a delicious briny liquid. Excellent atmosphere, great food and terrific drinks: what else can a patron ask for? This Brunnock-approved restaurant is deserving of five stars. The inventive menu, the triumphant seafood and the stellar service truly sets Aquagrill apart. The oyster bar is comfortable, yet elegant and the oysters here contend to be some of the very best in the city.
